We grow a variety of leafy greens (with some reds and bronzes as well).

Our customers have indicated a preference for salad greens (lettuces, curly endives, arugula etc.) and we also provide other specialty greens including various asian greens, basils etc.

We named our brand Honest Greens because we felt that customers like us wanted to have more transparency about what it is we are putting into our bodies.

We, like you have seen the profligate use of terms like ‘all natural’, ‘environmentally friendly’, ‘100% organic’ etc. in labeling. But what does this all mean?

All of our inputs are OMRI listed. The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is an international nonprofit organization that determines which input products are allowed for use in organic production and processing and it’s guidance is used by the US FDA and equivalent international organizations.

To keep it simple – we are committed to grow the cleanest produce that we can and our ‘product testing’ will continue to be performed on ourselves and our daughter. We are not interested in ‘playing games’ with your food.

Our food safety protocols are informed by the US FDA’s Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables and include:

• Use clean, good quality water that has been treated to remove pathogens
• Wash / sanitize hands prior to handling of plants and equipment
• Keep the growing area as clean as possible. Remove any plants that are sick or rotting, and immediately take out pruning remnants, old leaves and other organic matter
• At harvest time, wash hands, knives and other tools before use.
• Pets are never allowed into the greenhouse
• Never use composted materials, manure etc.
